Arizona and Israel

An Alliance for Excellence in
Desert Water Management and Agriculture

It's long been a feature of American culture to seek more - but it hasn't always been this way - from the pioneer days of the western expansion to the Great Depression as well as other times and places, Americans have often thrived by learning to do more, with less.

In Arizona, water conservation has been and will be: prosperity.

In the near future CAWCD and CAP should foster scholarships and fellowships, especially for Arizona farmers and agricultural and irrigation professionals - and promote partnership with the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel - a world leader in making the most out of scarce desert resources - and create a cadre of local professionals who will practice, teach and spread best practices to create a culture in Arizona of thriving amidst scarcity.
